9/24/2023 0 Comments Days hotel thunderbird beachLeaving you to go across the street at no rate reduction. For starters, you pay $20 for parking, however the parking is limited so even if you pay the $20 for ON SITE parking, there may not be a spot available. I have never stayed at such a low maintained, unprofessional, dirty outdated hotel in all my years. All and all, not horrible but not the best either. We only rented a car for 1 day due to this. $20 for onsite/valet but it was just parking in the front of the hotel. It also advertised a hot tub but we never saw one. The on-site restaurant is typical hotel prices. We never went to the other bar but could hear people sounding like they were having a great time. It was so much fun just to listen and people watch. People were dancing and having the best time. There was a man singing and playing electric guitar. The entertainment was so fun!!! We got in late Friday night and wanted to eat so we went to one of the bars on site. We never used the pool but it was decent size. You can get a $2 off coupon for a full breakfast. The hotel advertises a free hot breakfast but it’s only toast, coffee and juice. The a/c comes through an old vent and to control it, you have to stand on a chair and open/close it. The bathroom is dated but what do you need?! The shower was only lukewarm so that was disappointing. It had a balcony and 2 queen beds that were extremely comfortable. Room 216, we can see the ocean but it’s mostly a pool view. We booked a superior room because it advertised an ocean view. It’s an older hotel but is under construction so they may be improving it. I was sceptical about the reviews but really, it was already more than we wanted to pay but I went ahead and booked. This was a spur of the moment vacation and all the hotel prices were crazy expensive with it being a holiday weekend. It certainly won’t be for everyone, do your research and come and enjoy it before you HAVE to stay 1 night for the price of 5 and sit in the shade after 12.30 □□. The bars can be lively with a mix of locals, residents and French Canadians, live music at weekends. I stayed twice in November and December, 13 Nights each time, never saw a bug, had no issues - my room was not serviced ( bed not made on a couple of occasions, but towels replaced, bin emptied ) not a catastrophe. Plenty of local options by foot for food, public CVS, Navarro across the street. Bus stops outside, Aventura Mall in 5 mins, South Beach in 35-50 depending on time of day at $2.25 - same fare to Downtown Miami. If you want a great time at good value and aren’t looking for 4* luxury with great location it may work for you. We were only in the room to sleep, beds were big enough, comfortable, fridge, stove, sink and kitchen which we actually didn’t use. What we got was a really good value pool side room 2nd floor, could see the ocean, had everything we needed, walk to multiple shops, restaurants, and bars, car hire etc You are beachfront, decent pool, restaurant and 2 bars. It’s a hotel built in the 50’s when motels were evolving, so it’s old and won’t be here probably in summer 2022. So many of the high rises mean that after lunch, you are effectively sat in another buildings shade, this happens way less here as the expensive hotels are within touching distance, not so much here as there is still a gap on one side of the building with no high rises. If you are looking for a simple base, with access to a pool, food, drink, and a beach that you can be on in the sun for most of the day, this could be for you. Firstly, if you are are looking for a high end resort, this will not be for you and you have multiple other options within a walk, at extremely high end prices.
